Cracow city guide

Cracow is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. It is a magical place where the past and the present are meeting. HISTORY / ART / SCIENCE
Cracow was a settle of the polish kings and the famous aristocratic families like Lubomirski or Czartoryski. During the austrian, rusian and prusian occupation in XIX century here was the place where all the patriotic groups where accumulated, they were taking care about polish traditions, literature and language.

Cracow Church Cracow is also a center of the art, you can admire here the collections of famous and valuable painters. In the collection of Czartoryski family is original painting of Leonardo Da Vinci "Lady with ermine". In Cracow you can find paintings of great polish painter Jan Matejko from XIX century,who painted the most important moments from polish history.
In beautiful collection of royal palace are paintings of Rubens, Dolabella, Tintoretto, and many others, dutch, german and italian artists.

JAGIELLONIAN UNIVERSITY

Cracow is famous science centre. 1364 year polish king Kazimierz the Great founded one of the first universities in Europe called Cracovian Academy, today known as a Jagiellonian University. Here the student was Mikolaj Kopernik (Nicola Copernicus), Karol Wojtyła (pope John Paul II).

UNESCO
23 IX 1978 the old center was put on the UNESCO list as a monument "0" class.

WAWEL

Cracow inside Wawel is a name of royal hill situated in the center of the city. On the natural jurassic hill polish kings created their settle, beautiful renesaince palace. In the middle of the hill is located royal cathedral where every polish king was crowned and almost every burried.


CHAKHRAM

On the Wawel is saint indian stone, the energetic field of earth. Cracow is one of the seven cities where this stone chakhram find the place (other are in: Novi Delhi, Mecca, Delphi, Jeruzalem, Rome, Velehrad).

WIELICZKA

The salt mine is on the Unesco list, and it is working for 700 years. Chambers and underground rooms were created by polish miners. The most beautiful is underground chapel of saint Kinga full of sculptures of salt.

AUSCHWITZ

70 km from Cracow is located german concentration camp Auschwitz Birkenau. In this camp made by Germans during the II world war was killed 1 million people different nationalities.

ZAKOPANE

Tourist Center for winter sports in polish mountains Tatry (the highest point is Rysy 2499 metres). You will find here old, mountain houses and traditional market where you can buy products of leather, fur or traditional mountain cheese Oscypek. It is a beautiful old mountain city with unique premises.

In Cracow you can spend some unforgotten moments. The city is known as a place that never sleeps. Pubs and clubs are open 24 hours. Here you will find your place for fun according with your taste.
